GMM DM Project Starts off with Great Success

It is now almost a month since we have fully started with our DM project, Children Education through Women Empowerment. Women will sell palm oil combined with a saving and lending business and use the proceeds to educate their children in School. Goodness and Mercy Missions will buy palm oil and give to the women for the first 4 months and at discounts in some of these months. Our fear was that the women will not find a ready market for this because we were not very sure of their marketing skills. In a month each group is to sell 230 litres of palm oil, but already some groups have sold 230 x 2 litres of palm oil in less than one month. This means the women will sell more oil than expected, raise more income than expected and educate more children than we envisaged.
The saving and loan business is to start after the first month of selling palm oil when women already have had something for the members to borrow upon interest. High hopes are in the air as women will have more money to lend out to members since palm oil sales are faster.
We are working with 100 women in this project to benefit 300 children as far as their education is concerned.
Detail information on Goodness and Mercy Missions can be viewed at www.gmmafrica.org. You can see our child sponsorship program at www.gmmafricachild.org. There is a new blog we’ve just launched to this effect, www.goodnessmercymission. wordpress.com.
Thank you for all your care.
